A Moment to Shine: San Diego Loyal's 2023 Kits
San Diego Loyal have always had some of the most intricate kit designs in USL, and this year it’s no different. In 2023, the club’s primary colors take center stage, but there’s still that usual flair we’ve come to expect from these designs. Let’s take a look at the details and meaning behind the new threads.
SD LOyal 2023 Home kit
The classic Torrey Green makes its return in the home kit. It’s a fairly understated look compared to past designs, but there are still a few hidden meanings that stand out. The diagonal stripes forming at the neck are said to represent the sun rays that shine through San Diego, while the vertical orange stripe draws attention to the crest and represents the love shared from North County all the way to the border. The numbers, sponsors, and shorts are all in white.
SD Loyal 2023 away kit
For the away kit, orange comes back for the first time since 2020-21. As it’s been usual for San Diego, there are heavy nods to the rich Latino community in San Diego. Patterns reminiscent of those seen in Mexican blankets adorn the orange kit, and perhaps quite fittingly, the back sponsor this time is the premium Tequila Corralejo. To piece it all together, the thin stripes across the away kit spell the names of cities and neighborhoods across the region. Overall, the away kit is eye-catching, and it pays homage to the diversity of San Diego and its soccer supporters through well-executed design choices.
SD loyal 2023 Goalkeeper kits
The primary goalkeeper kit features a smokey black and green colorway, which pays homage to SD Loyal’s passionate supporter groups, The Locals and Chavos de Loyal. The kit was inspired by the celebratory smoke that bellows from the supporters’ section at Torero Stadium, and it’s well depicted in these two kits.
