January Camp: USMNT vs Serbia

USMNT 1-2 Serbia. Fresh faces for the new year, and lots of good takeaways from last night’s friendly despite the result.
The team had seven debutants in the starting XI, and it’s always good to get to witness the first steps of outstanding young players. Gressel’s pass to Vazquez was reminiscent of his days with the 17s, and the finish was nothing short of perfect itself. Flick of the head and into the back of the net. In the opening minutes, the front three of Zendejas, Vazquez, and Cowell proved to be quite efficient, with the two wingers dazzling throughout the match on either side of Vazquez. Very promising stuff from all three.
Overall, this may have just been a January friendly, but the attack-minded side fielded by Hudson was a refreshing start to the new year. There’s a long road ahead and many missions to complete before the final boss lands in our shores in ’26, but the future of this National Team is looking bright. Here’s how we experienced the night at BMO Stadium.
